4. Don't be surprised if your preschooler leaves you notes! Do be surprised if you can read them. At this age, kids usually:

  Write in Pig Latin.
  Scribble.
  Refuse to write at all unless you lend them a really nice ballpoint pen.

5. Preschoolers love to be read to, especially if you:

  Choose a picture book with a repetitive theme.
  Share your favorite biographies.
  Read from the dictionary.
