1. Does your child know the basics of car maintenance, such as how to change the oil?

  Of course! She's so much better at it than I am, I even pay her to do minor maintenance on my car.
  She doesn't do it herself, but she knows the importance of regular oil changes and other things on the maintenance schedule. She knows how to check fluid levels, and takes the car to the mechanic if something doesn't seem right.
  Are you kidding? I'm not even sure my child knows that cars run on gas.

2. Does your child know how to budget?

  Yep. He decides in advance how much he can spend on such things as entertainment and eating out, and I can trust him not to overspend at the grocery store.
  Well, he never seems to overspend, but I'm not sure that he actually keeps track of how much he spends on anything. If he did, he'd realize he spends $30/week on Starbucks!
  Nope. I'm constantly lending him money when he runs out. He never seems to have any extra cash.

3. Does your child know how to take care of basic household chores?

  Certainly. She knows what cleaning supplies to use and how often, as well as how to do laundry.
  I'm not complaining. She does chores when I ask her to, though she may have to ask me what products to use for cleaning or what the settings should be on the washer and dryer.
  I don't dare ask her to do the laundry, unless I want all our clothes to be pink. I'm not sure she even knows what a plunger is for.
